Default RE: Making a living from online poker?

:sungl

Hi Sharkedbait-Great post as I have been wondering just that!
It seems as though it is a battle between the 'one hit in a long while' of the tournaments (but paying v.well!) vs instant cash returns of S&G's and cash tables....

A few pointers (I have been playing many of all 3!)

1)Tourneys can eat up a lot of your capital without returning anything....go for good VALUE tourneys...look at the number of entrants/prizes ratio... also look at satellites as an affordable way to enter the bigger tourneys.

2)S&G's I am unsure about as anything outside 1st & 2nd is arely worth the time input! (?easy to b unlucky an get 4th)

3)In my humble view, cash NL games are the way to go but you must be very disciplined with regards to a proper bankroll (somewhere in region of 500 times BB of chosen table) and the management of it.
Set definite targets and leave when you have achieved them.
One good method is a 'stop-loss' sytem whereby if you make say $500 you would then set a stop loss of say 40% so if at ANY TIME you drop 40% you get off the table and stop! ie $200 in this exaple....Obviously you can adjust these percentages to your own preferences.
It is almost all about management!

Good Luck whichever way you go
