Failed conversion to MySQL

I am unable to convert to the MySQL database engine. I have followed the 8 steps on the FAQ but I can't get past step 4.

I launch PO, choose "Change DB engine", and hit the SAVE button. This leads to the error message:

"Conversion Failed!
Database engine already exists.
Create or open a new database, then try again."

???????
When I launch PO, only the Default DB is open.

What do you mean when you say you can not get past step 4? (this is the most important step as stated in the FAQ)

If you have faild to install MySQL once you must make sure to remove/uninstall it completley before trying again. (this includes rebooting after uninstall)
