Default PO subscription complainers

I don't understand why everybody is complaining about paying a $79 yearly fee for PO. First of all if I'm not mistaken you don't have to pay the $79 fee unless you want to upgrade and if you decide not to upgrade you still have a fully functioning product. Secondly, and more importantly if you have a problem with paying $79 once a year perhaps you should quit playing poker. If $79 is that much of a strain on your finances, especially considering what this product does, my suggestion is not to play any games where the exchange and gambling of money is essential.
Also, these people expect the product to work perfectly w/o any bugs whatsoever and at the same time want this for free!?! Believe me I've had alot of problems with PO, ALOT (including this recent problem with false virus detections, NOW I HAVE TO PRESS AN EXTRA 3 BUTTONS!!!!! OH MY GOD THATS WAY TO MUCH, I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO IT!!!!! YOU KNOW WHAT, I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN MOVE MY FINGER AN EXTRA 2 INCHES EVERYTIME I START POKER OFFICE, I THINK I'M GONNA CRY), but I read the support from the developers and suggestions from other users and every problem to this date has been solved. Remember, this isnt Microsoft, Apple, Dell, or Best Buy, which should have the resources to have 24/7 customer support. In my experience PO support is at least as good as these coorperations and they do it with relatively miniscule resources. I assume PO has a small development team made up of human beings, who need to eat, sleep, and even take weekends off, just like every other human being in the world.

Like I said I've had problems with PO but I still use there software, why? because its the best product of its kind. You still use it for the same reason, so stop complaining.

Thank you

You seem to live in a different universe than I do.

On the 26th of October, 2006 I reported the following: Performance issue with large DB

Nothing. Nothing at all. I sent the developers detailed suggestions, once again nothing. I have reported many problems, none solved.

Support has referred people with MySQL problem to me. Great, this gives people, including me, lots of confidence (that is sarcasm).

Finally, the performance was so bad that I could not stay with the product. I moved to PokerTracker and then to Hold'em Manager. The difference is amazing. What took days, and I mean days, to import into PO, Manager does in minutes. The new stats and the better analysis tools are fantastic.

I do prefer PO's HUD to Manager's but given the performance and the new stats I will live with a less attractive HUD.

I bought the product when it was a fixed price, before they switch to a fee based model. I have stated that I would not mind paying a yearly fee. If the product actually worked.

Version 3 was initially promised for "before summer". Then it became "summer". Well, "summer" has 28 days left. For anyone who believes that PO 3 will be released before then, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.

Cheers,

Questions about MySQL queries, yes. For the simple reasons that I don't know enough about database queries to advise other users what to do. Anyways, we don't feel database queries is really a PO support issue, hence I have been told not to support it. Becuase of this, and because I know you're quite knowledgeable I referred a couple of users to you.

I apologize if you feel that it was a bad idea. It will not happen again.

Cheers,
I'll buy the bridge as long as you mean a beta version, and not the final version.

Default best of it's kind!

Well at last,
Someone actually agrees with me.
Poker office is indeed the best of it's kind.

It was the first and most complete poker helper software of it's kind.

It gives outs and odds, it labels both you and your opponents.

It logs and stores every single card / bet played.

It gives graphs, filters many stats, and even has a built in replayer!

It is legal, ethical, and permitted by every site it works at (unlike various other pieces of software out there).

Yes it's got a bit old, and others have copied the idea and caught up, even over taken TEMPORARILY.

But hold a minute whats this coming now........ POKER OFFICE 5 !

Look out the rest of you, the best is back on top I'm sure of it.

And I think many ship jumpers (poker tracker / holdem manager) will be back, after spending how many $ ?
And all because of IMPATIENCE.

And I was under the impression that good poker requires terriffic patience ?

Default Sigh....

I am looking forward to PO5. It will be interesting to see if it is indeed the best out there once again.

I agree it was the best, when I bought it well over 2 years ago. And if it was not for the performance problems I would have kept using it. But it became unusable on my hardware with over 800K hands. Even when I upgraded my machine it still could not deal with more than 1 million hands. My database now has more than 20 million. PT2, PT3 and HM handle this with no problem.

Everything you list is available with other products, but if you want to both track your opponents and get odds & outs in one product, then PO is the only choice. I never cared for the odds & outs, and have that turned off. Likewise the "Hand Rank" is useless for me.

However, PO has one feature that no other product has, namely opponent action. This is the only thing I miss when using other tools. This feature makes multi-table play much easier. The PO HUD also has a cleaner interface that the others.

I am really unclear that the H2 database will be able to handle 20 million hands. That for me is the real test.

BTW, I do not mind paying for this again (although I do want to be able to test it with my entire database first). As the OP noted, $79/year should not be a big deal if you are playing at all seriously. Neither was buying PT3 and HM. If a new product comes out, and it looks like it could be better, I will check it out. And switch to it if it can handle my database and gives me the tools I need.

Good online poker, especially multi-table play, requires good stats. When your opponents know how much you 4 bet bluff and you do not know that about them, you are in trouble. That has been the situation now for several months. PO5 should correct that deficiency. In fact, with the ability to write my own stats, this could give me a great advantage, if it can handle my database.

But until it is released, I will continue using HM and loading the data into PT3 in background.
I will not make the mistake I made with PO again. If it stops working for me, I will just stop using it. Report the problem and move on, no more banging my head for days on end trying to figure it out only to have to buy another product anyway.
