Help with mySQL

Hey,

I just purchased the poker office software.. Can you please tell me what mySQL is? and what it's used for.

Also, Do I have to switch my data from poker office over to this mySQL? I'm just not understanding what it is and what it's used for. and what happens if I do not switch the data to mySQL?
