This is what was written in the email:

So you don’t have any problem during the actual installation? Does Mcafee specify which file it considers to be a virus?

I don’t have Mcafee installed so it’s tough for me to be exact, but I’m assuming you get a warning message telling you that file XXX is unsafe, after which you’re unable to mark it as safe. You should also be able to mark files as safe after the actual message is gone, is that not the case?

I'm having the same problem with Mcafee, and have spent a good time trying to figure out how to trust the file, but have been unsuccessful. If anyone figures out how to trust the file please let me know. Here's some more info on the file that Mcafee is automatically deleting:

Default Virus AdClicker-FC.gen.c () detected in version 2.46

Hello,

Installing the new version 2.46 of PO on Windows XP with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i (DAT file 5382.0000 11/09/2008) introduce a VIRUS on my computer.

Here is the log of my antivirus.

2008-09-12 13:51:17 1027 C:\Program Files\PokerOffice\update246.exe C:\PROGRAM FILES\POKEROFFICE\BIN\FTPL.EXE AdClicker-FC.gen.c ()

2008-09-12 13:51:19 1027 C:\Program Files\PokerOffice\update246.exe C:\Program Files\PokerOffice\bin\ftpl.exe AdClicker-FC.gen.c ()

Virus Profile : AdClicker-FC.gen.c ()

Date Discovered: 3/7/2008
Date Added: 3/7/2008
Origin: Unknown
Length: N/A
Type: Trojan
SubType: Generic
DAT Required: 5247

My antivirus deleted the file C:\Program Files\PokerOffice\bin\ftpl.exe

After the update and the audeletion of the file. I was able to use PO with Pokerstars
My PO works fine. The Live Tracker Autodetection works fine. The manual import works also.

But I would like more info or support on "Why i got this virus(trojan) in an update? Will this file affect PO on another poker site?"

I'm having exactly the same problem as Nate Trib with McAfee detecting a Trojan and I can't see any obvious way to allow this update without disabling McAfee and even then information seems to indicate McAfee won't like it with ftpl.exe runs with this 'Trojan'.

Can we have any update asap as this means we can't use PO on Full Tilt without removing McAfee.

Regards.

Just a quick further update for Nate Trib. I've been in touch with McAfee and there is no way to make this a trusted file, the only way to allow Adclicker-FC.gen.c through as part of the ftpl.exe file according to their support is to turn McAfee off while you are downloading. They have requested a copy be sent to them for analysis before I attempted this.

I did say that McAfee seems to be the only virus checking stopping this download but I'm also not sure I want to turn off my security software for PO.

Could support provide me with an update on rthe best way forward, I notice the previous posts are a few days old but there doesn't seem to be any reply on what to do.

Thanks,

Since there's no way to keep McAfee from blocking the file I'm afraid there is no good workaround at this time. The developers are aware of this problem, so hopefully they'll find some way to fix this.

Well, what McAfee told you is not true. I have just put in an exception rule, and now VScan ignores ftpl.exe.

Just change the settings of the OnAccess Scanner. There's a category for "normal", "high", and "low" risk categories. (Sorry, I have the german interface, so I canīt give you the exact names)

Anyway, for each of these categories, on the second tab at the bottom there is a button for exceptions. Just add a rule in each category for the full path to the executable (e.g. mine is in d:\programme\poker office\bin\ftpl.exe). Afterwards rerun the PO update so that the ftpl.exe gets restored. Done.
