PO Install Causes Poker Stars to Crash
I have read through as many posts as I could handle, and I could not find anything specifically related to the issue I am seeing.
I am running Windows XP with all of the latest patches and security updates. I am using version 2.37 of Poker Office 2.
After I install PO2, Poker Stars crashes with a hungapp error whenever I attempt to look at a game lobby. If I attempt to click on any of the help links in Poker Stars, the application crashes and I get a "Not Responding" message at the top of the window.
This happens just from installing PO2. I don't have to be running the program for Poker Stars to break, it only needs to be installed. The only way to make the problem go away is to uninstall Poker Office 2. Once that is done, Poker Stars works perfectly again, as if nothing ever happened.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Poker Stars and Poker Office 2 from scratch, and the same issue comes up each time. Install PO2, Poker Stars will not work. Uninstall PO2, Poker Stars works perfectly.
In the past, I have used My SQL, but I have since removed this, too. I tried installing PO2 with and without the McKoi database, and that does not seem to make any difference either.
Any one else ever experienced this type of problem before?

I have not heard about this problem before. I guess it is due to some 3:rd part software on your computer. What security related applications do you use? I.e. firewall/antivirus/registry guard etc etc.
Please make sure that none of them have PO (PokerOffice.exe, javaw.exe and Java 2 TM) in any filter or block/ban/deny filter.

I have got the same problem, not only on pokerstars, but on all PO supported sites.
Started a week/2 weeks ago, My virus/firewall protection is Telia safe surf (uses an F-Secure license). Have done that for a the last half year with out any problems.
Just prior to the problem I got a warning from Telia (my internet provider) regarding the connection to US sites, relating to this:
The Telia-Cogent Spat Could Ruin the Web For Many - GigaOM
So I just thought that was the reason, but that might have just been a coincidence, thta it happened a the same time.

Viggosen, that's one interesting link, I hadn't heard about it before.
F-secure didn't make any updates just before this problem started? It'd be good if you could send your log file, preferrably right after a crash, to support@pokeroffice.com. The log file can be found at c:/program files/pokeroffice/log/systemlog.txt. Please also add a link to this thread. You can send the emails in Swedish if you prefer that.

I have send a mail with the systemlog.txt to support mail.
Regarding the F-secure, they did make a software upgrade 17-3-2008, and a webfilter upgrade 19-03-2008, and it was just about then the problems started, so it might be the reason.

I don't use any security software. I have a router and and closely monitor performance and all running applications.
PO never crashes, it's only Poker Stars, so I'm not sure how logs might help. I was just hoping somebody else had this issue and came across a fix. This problem started about 4 or 5 months ago on a completely different computer. I just gave up on the application. I decided to give it another go and tried to run it on a new computer, but I still have the same problem, or at least a similar issue.
Perhaps it has something to do with Java? I use a beta version of the Opera browser, and I have Java version 1.6.0_05 installed.
Just to give an example of how unusual this problem is, so far I have only been able to select one particular type of NL tournament at Poker Stars without seeing an immediate crash. If I select a .10 NL turbo game, I am able to negotiate in the game's lobby. When I hover the mouse pointer over the tournament lobby buttons, the pointer changes to a hand and I am able to close the window and return to the main Poker Stars window. Any other game lobby seems to cause Poker Stars to hang, and if I join and try to actually play one of the .10 NL turbo games, it will hang once the game begins. Also, any of the options under the Poker Stars "Help" section cause the application to crash as well.
Everything else with Poker Stars seems to work as expected.

Can you please check how many running instances of javaw.exe you have before startinge either PO or Stars client. Press Ctrl+SHIFT+Esc and look in the process list to see this.
What you can also try is to Kill/close all javaw.exe processes you see in this list and then start the Stars client, any difference now? If Stars does not crash, please try to start PO and try to track on Stars.

Well you are right, if I close javaw.exe. I can play on pokerstars again, when I don`t have pokeroffice running. But If I try it with PO running as well, Pokerstars still locks up.

Yes, that is exactly the same result that I had.

I am afraid that I do not have any solution for this yet. When does the crash occur is it imideatly when you start a live tracker? or some seconds after, in the logs it look like the tracking just starts and ticks for a few seconds.
Is it any difference if you use the auto start feature or not?
Completely reinstalling PokerStars would be a very good thing to try so we can at least check it from the list.
