Default PokerOffice on Vista Home Premium can't get it work

I am using pokeroffice for 2 years now. Last month i bought a new laptop with vista home premium. I installed pokeroffice on it. After this i installed pokerstars and partypoker. I am using a Mysql database. The database is working. But cant get live tracker working.

when i open 1 tournament table nothing happens. When i open the second tournament table live window pops up on the left top minimaised.

I did re-install poker office without results. I did re-install partpoker and pokerstars no results either.

I know vista is not officially supported but its very frustrating that its not working.

I am using pokeroffice 2.38 and the same version is working Perfect under winXP.

attached:

logfile Pokeroffice with tournament on pokerstars
logfile Pokeroffice with tournament on partypoker

InstallatianPaths:

pokeroffice: C:\programs\Pokeren\Pokeroffice
Pokerstars: C:\Programs\Pokeren\Pokerstars\
partypoker: C:\Programs\Pokeren\PartyGaming\

I see in the log that My profile Home is D:\René and USER HOME: D:\Rene

D:\Rene\AppData\Local\PokerStars\User.ini (Het systeem kan het opgegeven pad niet vinden) English is can't find the file D:\Rene\AppData\Local\PokerStars\User.ini . And that right because on vista the pokerstars.ini is automaticly saved in C:\Users\Rene\AppData\Local\PokerStars\user.ini so pokeroffice is looking in the wrong directoy.

additional info:

Did fill in the hh path for pokerstars in pokeroffice. No results
did fill in the pokerstars.exe path no results.

Did closed my virusscan and firewall and woindows defender. No results either.
A re-install is did not help so can u tel me what 2 do more?????????????

I am using a router. Do i open ports for my laptop?? On a other laptop on win2000 its working without making adjustments in my router so i don't think so but i try 2 give you so much info as i can

You are right it looks like there isa problem finding the user.ini file. I have recently seen the exact same thing in our email support (not sure it could have been you)

PO looks in: D:\Rene\AppData\Local\PokerStars\User.ini is this correct? (*acording to the log you attached)

Have you looked at the Vista FAQ thread here on the forum. It can very well be that Vista is preventing PO from getting read acces to the user.ini file. Please take a look at the FAQ and turn off UAC and take an extra look on file premisssions etc for the user.ini file

No Poker office thinks D:\Rene is the home dir but C:\Users\Rene is Home dir. A reïnstall did not mather.

It is the home directory that is wrong and thats why it wont work. I have no idea why PO think it is Rene\ and Stars think it is Users\Rene\ but I would say that PO is the one who take sthe wrong directory

PO simply uses the ready built function "get home dir" in Java. Even more straneg is that it is working for every one else we have heard of. We will have to look more on this, what you could try in the meanwhile is to see if it is possible to get PokerStars to use the same directory as PokerOffice, the one without the Users folder.

Thanks for the reply. I think i know what was wrong. I got it working now. The problem was in the table overlay that i am NOT using. After editing the table overlay sundely live tracker did works even in the default windows vista theme. The table overlay was emty. so i put in some stats in it ,,,,, see Attached file and it worked.

Is the table overlay connected with the livewindow ??????????????? if it is that shut explane something otherwise i don't know but i am happy its working now.

ps

I still see the path errors for pokerstars in my PO logfile but still its working without changing anything else then above.

Hope this post can help some1 else

Thanks for the update. The overlay is fetching stats from your actual database.

Had you previously altered the table overlay settings? It's quite strange that the box with chosen stats was empty.

Exclamation Still problems on pokerstars

Hi,

I was a little busy the last few days. So thats why i reply so late. Pokeroffice is working fine for Partypoker under vista. No Problems at all. However pokeroffice is not working right for Pokerstars.

Problem 1
I have the live window working but i don't see my own holecards and the rank and outs is not showing. When i close poker office before Pokerstars the Pokerstars client freezes. I tested several things in combination with what i see in my logfile.

Pokeroffice installed under vista is looking for the user.ini in D:\%Username%. This is not right. The normal Path is C:\UserRene\AppData\Local\PokerStars\User.ini. So what i did was copy the files in the folder C:\UserRene\AppData\Local\PokerStars to D:\Rene\AppData\Local\PokerStars. but i still have no holecards, rank and outs, and i see in my log "PSHH Not found: C:\Programs\Pokeren\Pokerstars\HH\\DutchRaise72" the hh file is there and it does not mather if i fill in the path in pokeroffice advanced tab. The error stays.

Problem 2
When i open the handhistory and klik op change folder in the pokerstars client. Pokerstars freezes. I will crash after a minute or so.

Problem 3
The handhistory is saved in my database but the time for pokerstars of the played hands is not right when i use my client on my laptop with Vista home Premium. When is use the poker office client on my windows XP machine with pokerstars everything is working alright. See attached image.

I am living in the Netherlands this is GMT+1 Amsterdam,London Berlin,Bern,Rome...... So i think pokeroffice is calculating the time wrong for Vista users in hte GMT time +1

I am willing to help and test othertings. As i said i have uninstalled poker office several times. No result. I even overwite the settings with the pokeroffice def_settings.zip file. No results either.

i read a lot of topics on this forum and i advise you 2 give better but more importend faster support. a lot of users are complaining. The only thing i read is re-install, send logs. But a lot of users have the same problem what must point in the direction of bugs in pokeroffice. And here's my point. the bugfixes are taking 2 long!!!!

I agree with you that it is taking too long, Vista improvements/bugfixing is on hold again since FTP updated and that takes everyones prio to get it working again. It takes prio because Vista is as you know not supported yet. In some not too distant future we will make a Vista bug thread and work our way through it to get that long awaited Vista support.

You do not have to make any changes to your router. PO does not need internet access, what it do need is access to the localhost internal network on your computer to communicate with the poker clients. Not the problem in your case.

In 2.38 we added that on Vista computers PO should look in c:\users.... too it does not seem to work for you tho and I am very surprised that it looks in d:\

What you could try is to make a new user on Windows, create an Admin account and name it to something without any special characters in it i.e. '`^ etc. Try to use this new account to start Stars and PO (might have to reinstall them for that user)

I finaly solved most of my problems with PO and Pokerstars.

I've been testing a lot of things for a few hours and did find the problem.

When i first installed Vista I copied my documents folder to D:\Rene. For backup when vista is crashing i won't lose my documents. I think that Vista changed the Home Dir. Now i Copied all the things back to C:\User\Rene and after this a can see my holecards and outs and have no errors anymore in my pokeroffice logfile.

I will advise the developers to make the path to the user.ini variable like they did with the handhistory and pokerstars.exe file. This is usefull if people want to change the home dir to a other directory. Then PO office can't find the files anymore that are stored in C:\User\Appdata\Local\Pokerstars. I think this can fix a few more problems.

Still have few minor problems with Vista and PokerOffice.
  1. The first one is that the pokerstars client crashes when i close PO before the pokerstars client. See attached logfile. I think the problem is caused bij pshimp.Dll in combination with javaw.exe. The same files did make my IE browser crashes when i cleared my history and temporary internet files. this happens only when C:\Programs\Pokeren\PokerOffice\bin\javaw.exe is loaded as a procces in my taskmanager.

  2. The second problem is that the start and end time in pokeroffice under windows Vista is not correct. See attached image. I think there is a calculation bug in Poker Office for the locale GMT+1 (Netherlands) under windows Vista. On my XP machine its working fine. The time in the handhistory is good even as the system time on the Vista machine. The start and end time is also wrong with the party poker client.
I hope you can reproduce this and release a fix for it.

Like to have some response
