Replayer

The Replayer makes it possible to view stored hands exactly as they were played. The Replayer shows you each player's actions, in a graphical format, so you can watch how the hand played out. You can choose to view each player's hole cards (if known) so that you can better analyze your own play. You can also choose to use the same overlay that you had when you were playing the hand live; that way, when you replay the hand, you can analyze your decisions based on what you knew about your opponents at the time.

You can choose to replay a single hand or an entire session/tournament, or you can use the filters in the main_program to view a selection of hands from your database.

The following sections describe the use of the Replayer:

Launching the Replayer

The Replayer can be launched from the main_program in several different ways:

User interface

When starting the Replayer, you will see a poker table similar to what you see on your online poker sites. With this interface you can step backwards or forwards through the actions of one particular hand; move backwards or forwards from one hand to the next; and view the hand from the perspective of any of the other players at the table.

When you start the Replayer, you will be able to see each action (that is, every bet, raise, fold, etc.), from beginning to end. For each hand, the Replayer will start just before the blinds are posted and will continue until the pot is awarded to a player. After you launch the Replayer, you can choose to step through the action manually, or have the Replayer automatically play through the hand, as described in the next section.

The light blue and grey buttons to the lower left of the poker table allow you to replay the poker hand. You can use these playback buttons to step through the action manually, or have the Replayer automatically play through the hand.

Automatic Hand Replay

To begin the automatic replay, push the "play button" (the blue triangle facing left: ). Play will begin with the posting of the blinds and will automatically continue through every action in the hand. Once the hand has completed, the next hand will automatically begin (you can use the settings menu to instruct the Replayer to pause between hands).

Pause play at any time by pressing the pause button (two vertical lines).

Control the speed of the Replayer with the slider below the playback buttons; speed up play by sliding the bar to the right or slow play down by sliding the bar to the left.

Manual Replay

You can also choose to step through the action manually. The second row of playback buttons lets you do the following (in order from left to right):

  • Go back to the beginning of the hand
  • Go back a single action
  • Go forward a single action
  • Go forward to the end of the hand

Select Hand

In the upper left corner of the screen is another set of playback buttons. In order from left to right, those buttons allow you to:

  • Skip backwards to the first hand in your selection (or the first hand in the selected session or tournament)
  • Skip backwards to the previous hand
  • Skip forward to the next hand
  • Skip forward to the last hand in your selection (or the last hand in the selected session or tournament)

Select Player

By default, the Replayer shows you the hand, plus odds and outs from your perspective (more accurately, from the perspective of the player currently selected in the main_program). You can easily change this perspective to another player by clicking on that player's name in the Replayer. You will then see odds and outs for that player. When a player is selected, the player's info-box changes color.

To the right of each player information box is a button which brings up the player's notes. These notes are connected to the player notes on the overview tab, if you write a note about a player in the replayer you will then also see the note on the overview tab if you select that player.

Dealer Output

The action from the current hand is shown in the dealer output box.

Game notes

Here one can enter notes about the current game.

Odds

Here the odds are shown in a manner similar to the live tracker.

Settings

There are four on/off options for the replayer, accessed through the drop-down Settings menu:

  • Do animations: By default, the Replayer animates card dealing, folds, bet collection and payouts. This can be disabled via this option.
  • Pause after each hand: When this box is checked, the Replayer will pause after each played hand in the automatic replay mode.
  • Always show known hands: When checked, this option makes all players' hole cards visible, if those hole cards were shown at any point during the hand. Otherwise only the hole cards of the currently selected player are shown.
  • Show overlay: This option controls whether the overlay is visible.

Overlay Options

There are two options that can be selected from the drop down Overlay menu:

Settings

Choosing the Settings menu brings up a window that allows you to customize the Replayer overlay. The overlay settings for the Replayer work in essentially the same way as the poker table Overlay settings.

Choose Statistics to Display

The "available statistics" panel shows all of the statistics that can be displayed in the overlay. Select a statistic from the "available statistics" panel and click "add" to move that statistic to the "selected statistics" panel. All of the statistics in the "selected statistics" panel will be displayed on your overlay.

You have several options for working with the selected statistics. Select a statistic in the selected statistics panel and then:

  • Click the "up" or "down" buttons to change the order of the selected statistics.
  • Click the "remove" button to remove that statistic from the selected statistics panel.
  • Type text into the "Name:" box to change the way that the statistic will be displayed on the Overlay.

Click the "clear" button to remove all of the selected statistics.

Click the "filter data" button to limit the data that is displayed for each statistic. Please refer to the Live Tracker | Customize Data help section for more information on these filtering options.

For a definition of the available statistics, please see the Glossary. Note that for most statistics there is a "session" statistic, reflecting only statistics from the current session, and a general statistic, reflecting all of the data in your PokerOffice database (as modified by any filter settings you may be using). So "Saw Flop %" will show the percentage of hands where this player saw the flop out of all hands that you have recorded for this player; "Saw Flop % Session" will show the percentage of hands where this player saw the flop out of all hands in the current session only.

Customize the Statistics Display

You can choose to display statistics in either one or two rows by clicking on the appropriate radio button; if you choose to display two rows of data, you can choose how many statistics are displayed on each row by typing a number into the "Nr of stats on row 1" box. Use this option together with the up and down buttons to customize exactly how the statistics are displayed on your table.

You can choose to have the overlay display the "authentic overlay" which will show the same data that you had at the time the hand was played or the "total DB" which will display all of the data that you now have in your PokerOffice database.

Finally, if you have a large number of hands in your PokerOffice database, you can improve the Replayer's performance by excluding your own statistics.

Filter Data

The Filter Data option allows you to limit the statistics that appear on the Replayer overlay. You can limit the data to stats that were obtained when a given number of players were in a hand; you can limit the data to hands played at the current level; and you can use a date filter to show only those hands played after a given date.

  • Filter by Number of players -

    • The first row allows you to select a filter based on the number of players that were in a hand. When you select this filter, the data in the Replayer overlay will reflect only those hands where your opponents were sitting at a table with the selected number of players.
    • So, if some of your opponents play both full-ring games and short-handed games, you can set this filter to 7-10 players, for example, . The statistics in your Live Tracker window will then reflect only the full-ring games and not the short-handed games.

  • Filter by Level - The second row allows you to choose whether to view only data from the current level. There are two options here:

    • Use all hands from all levels - All the data you have gathered for your opponents will be used, regardless of the playing level that data refers to, where level is referred to the blinds level.
    • Only use hands played on the specific level - Will filter the statistics based on the current level of play. For example, if you are playing $1/$2, the statistics displayed will only use hands that have been played on the level $1/$2.
