Main Program

Introduction

When you begin PokerOffice, you start in the Main Program. In the Main Program, you can view and analyze data from your ring games and your tournament play. You can also get reports, graphs and spreadsheets of your own and your opponents' play. The main program is also the starting point for the live_tracker and the Replayer.

The main way to navigate in PokerOffice is through use of the Left-Hand Tabs and Overhead Tabs

Overview Tab

The Overview Tab summarizes all of the data stored in your PokerOffice database.

The data in the Overview Tab is separated into several tables:

  • View More Detailed Statistics - see a summary of your preflop and postflop play
  • Combine Players / Create Alias - if you use different names on different sites, or if you've ever changed your screen name, you can use this function to combine those names and view all of your statistics together

Game Details Table

The Game Details table gives more details about every hand played. If you selected any row in the above tables, the Game Details table will show you only hands that match your selections. For example, if you're viewing ring games, and you selected the 2/4 level in the top table and AA in the middle level, the Game Details table will show you every hand at that level in which you started with AA preflop.

By default, this table shows the most recent 500 hands; clicking the buttons above this third table to scroll forward or backwards by blocks of 500 hands, or to view all hands at once. The information in this table is only a brief summary of the information available to you.

You can also review the complete hand history, as text or by graphically watching the play of the hand. For more information, see the "Show Hand History" and "Launch Replayer" sections below.

From the Game Details window, you can select one hand or multiple hands, and do the following:

To select the hands you want to work with, either left-click on a particular hand, or use the CTRL or SHIFT keys together with the left mouse button to select a range of hands. Then right-click to bring up a list of options, or left-click on one of the icons above the table. The different options are described in the following sections.

Show Rake Paid: Among other things, the Game Details table shows all rake paid by all players. If you want to find the rake paid by all players at your tables for a given month (to help you estimate rakeback, for example), you can easily do so.

  • At the top of the window, use the date filter to select the current month
  • In the Player Summary table, LEFT-click on the summary row (so that all hands from all blind levels are selected)In the Game Details table, click the Show All button.

You can select a hand, or a range of hands, to replay from the Game Details table. To do so, simply left- click on a particular hand, or use the CTRL or SHIFT keys together with the left mouse button to select a range of hands.

Then launch the replayer either by RIGHT-clicking anywhere in the Game Details table OR by pressing the replayer icon: small computer icon

More information on the Hand Replayer is available.

Show Hand History

PokerOffice allows you to view hand histories in text format. To view hand histories:

  • First, in the Game Details table select the hand or hands you wish to view.

    • To view a single hand, left-click or right-click on the row containing your hand.
    • To view multiple hands, use the CTRL or SHIFT keys together with the left mouse button.
  • Next, click on the Show Hand History icon , or right-click and select Show Hand History.

  • A new window will then pop up containing all of the hand histories you selected.

In the Hand History window, you can use the icons to launch the Replayer or print the hands. You can also copy and paste the histories into a new document (e.g. notepad) (Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+V to paste)

Edit Hand

You can edit individual hands from the Game Details window (you can also edit hands under the sessions tab, as described in the following section). You may wish to do this if, for example, you lose your connection in the middle of a hand, and PokerOffice is unable to import the entire hand.

To edit a hand, right-click on the hand in the Game Details window and select Edit Hand. You can then edit:

  • Your profit

  • The rake taken on that hand

  • Your starting cards

  • The final pot size

Delete Hand

You can delete individual hands by right-clicking on the hand in the Game Details window and selecting Delete Hand.

NOTE: this will permanently remove the hand from your PokerOffice database, so use with caution.

You can also delete all of the hands from an entire session, by going to the Sessions tab.

Filters: Filter by date or more advanced criteria

All of the information in the Overview tab can be filtered by date or by other advanced criteria that you select.

Date Filter:

  • The date filter can be selected from the top row of the Overview window.
  • Simply check the "Use date filter" box, select the date range with the drop down menus, and click the Update button.
  • All the information you see on the screen will then be filtered for the appropriate date range.

Advanced Filters:

  • You can also filter by more advanced criteria by clicking on the Advanced Filters icon in the upper right corner (it looks like a small funnel: ). Here, for example, you choose to view all hands in which you attempted to steal another players blinds, or in which you raised on the flop with overcards or where you called on the river. By combining these filters with the replayer or hand history viewer, you have a powerful tool for analyzing and evaluating your play.

  • Clicking on the Advanced Filters icon brings up a new "Overview Filter" window. In this filter window, you can choose what filters to apply.

    • The filter contains a number of categories, for example "Flop Hands", "Chance to steal blinds", etc.

    • If you select options from several categories, this means that all of the selections must be true for a hand to pass that filter. The filter is performed on an AND basis (so, for example, if you choose 3 options, option1 must be true AND option2 must be true AND option3 must be true for a hand to pass the filter).

    • However, selections WITHIN a category are performed on an OR basis. So, for example, if you select several options in the flop hands category (for example overcards and flushdraw), then all hands that had EITHER overcards OR flushdraw OR both will pass the filter.
  • After you've selected your criteria, click on the "apply" button at the bottom of the window; PokerOffice will then sort through all of the hands in your database (this can take a while with larger databases, especially if you've selected a number of filters). You'll then be returned to the Main Program Overview tab where you'll see only those hands that meet the criteria. You will now also have an excellent opportunity to replay these hands as a single session, in order to review your play for the given criteria.

More Detailed Statistics

PokerOffice gives you the option of viewing more detailed statistics about your play. You can get to the "More Detailed Statistics" page in either of two ways:

  • Click on the More Detailed Statistics icon in the upper right corner of the page (it looks like a small chart: ). This will open up a new window showing you detailed statistics for the blinds level selected on the Player Summary table. If you want to view your statistics for all levels, be sure that you first have selected the yellow summary row (select the summary row by left-clicking).

  • Right click on any of the rows in the Player Summary table to see detailed statistics for that blind level. To see detailed statistics for ALL hands at ALL levels, right-click on the summary row in the first table on the Overview page.

The More Detailed Statistics window will show you approximately 70 different statistics on your play, from your preflop raise percentages, to your blind steal and defense results, to your postflop aggression. An explanation of the terms used here can be found in the Glossary.

The significance of these statistics can vary widely depending on what game you play, how your typical opponents play etc. There is no "correct" number for most of these statistics, although there are ranges that are considered by expert players to be optimal. PokerOffice uses these statistics to "auto-rate" players; generally, you'd prefer to be in the Tight Aggressive range, and this is what you should strive for if you are starting out in poker.

Note that if you've used any of the filter options in the main overview window, those options will carry through here, and your statistics will reflect ONLY the filtered hands.

Combine Players / Create Alias

By default, PokerOffice shows you the statistics for a single player. You can, however, combine the statistics for more than one player or screen name alias. All of the information that PokerOffice displays will then be based on those combined statistics. You might want to do this, for example, if you've changed your screen name on a poker site. Or, you might have different screen names on different sites; with PokerOffice you can combine the statistics from these different names and view them together.

Please note that if you use the same screen name on different networks, PokerOffice will treat the names as though they belong to different players and will make separate entries in its databases for each name. With the Combine Players feature, you can combine these separate entries into a single alias and view all of your statistics together; or you can leave the entries separate and track your results on each network independently. You can find the name of the network associated with each screen name in parentheses after the screen name (e.g. "YourName (PTY)" is your name on the Party Poker network and "YourName (PS)" is your name on Poker Stars).

To combine players or create an alias:

  • Click the Combine Players icon (it looks like a small person with a plus sign: ).
  • A new window will pop up that will allow you to Add additional nicknames to an existing alias.
  • Once you've done so, each of the other windows in PokerOffice will show you the combined statistics for all of the linked names.
  • The names will remain linked unless you manually Remove them. So, the next time you start PokerOffice you will automatically be viewing statistics for the combined names.

Note that you must click the appropriate left-hand tab to combine aliases for a Ring Game player or a Tournament player since PokerOffice stores ring game and tournament data separately. And, if you're using more than one database, you will need to combine your aliases for each database separately.

Auto-rate stats

You can choose whether to "auto-rate" the player whose statistics you are viewing in this window. Check the box to auto-rate the player

Choosing to auto-rate a player will show you an icon and a brief description of whether the player is loose or tight and passive or aggressive. The settings that correspond to this description can be found under "Player Icons" chapter of the live_tracker help section.

Player Notes

A small window in the upper right corner of the Overview tab allows you to keep notes on your selected player. Click the pencil-and-paper icon to the right of the window to view an enlarged notes screen. You can cut-and-paste your notes from this window into your notes on any poker site by using ctrl-c (to copy) and ctrl-v (to paste). The notes are saved on a per player basis; i.e. you can have one separate note for each player in your database.

Sessions / Tournaments Tab

Under this tab, all the data for the selected player is summarized by session or by tournament.

Information on your sessions/tournaments is presented in three tables and a graph (ring games only):

Session / Tournament Details Table

The first table provides details about each ring session or tournament.

A session is defined as a set of hands played at the same table during the same time span. If you leave a table or sit out for more than 15 minutes, a new session will start when you come back. Tournaments also include SNG's (sit-n-go's) also known as single-table tournaments.

Left-clicking any row in the Session Details table selects that session. The graph and the two below tables will then be updated to reflect the data from that session.

You can also right-click on any row, to bring up a menu with two options:

  • Replay Session: Selecting this option will launch the Replayer and allow you to review your entire session. Read more about the Replayer here.

  • Replay Tournament: Selecting this option will launch the Replayer and allow you to review your entire tournament. Read more about the Replayer here.
  • Edit Tournament: You can edit the Buyin, Fee, Placement and Winnings for each tournament. This is especially useful when importing hands that does not contain this information or if you play at a Network or Structure where PokerOffice does not pick up this information automatically.
  • Delete Tournament: This option allows you to delete an entire tournament. This will permanently remove the tournament from your PokerOffice database, so use with caution.
Statistics used in the Tournament Details table:

Game Details / Tournament Details Table

The second table shows Game Details or Tournament Details. If you're viewing Ring Games, left clicking on any row in this table will highlight that hand in the graph above. For both Ring Games and Tournaments, right-clicking on any hand will bring up the same four options as in the Details table in the Overview Tab:

You can left-click on a row to select a specific opponent. When you select a specific opponent, both his and your profit per hand will be plotted in the Profit/Hand graph above. The opponent's graph is plotted in black while yours is plotted in the green/blue/red colors described above.

If you right-click on a player, a menu will pop up giving you the option to change the selected player to this player. Read more about the Replayer here.

Note: The Profit/Hand graph only shows a maximum of 800-1000 hands depending on your screen resolution. So, if you've played more hands than can be shown on the graph, the graph will "scroll" to the right and show the relative profit of your last 800-1000 hands. To plot more than 1000 hands, we recommend that you use the Custom Graph tab, described in the next section. Under the Custom Graph tab, you can view your profit (in $ or in BB) for as many hands at once as you want; under that tab you can also use the advanced filtering options, e.g. to view the profit per hand for a specific blinds level, etc.

Profit/Day

This graph displays your relative profit per day. Days that you have won and made a profit in are plotted in green, days where you made no profit are plotted in blue and days in which you have lost money are plotted in red.

Profit/Week

This graph displays your relative profit per week. Weeks that you have won and made a profit in are plotted in green, weeks where you made no profit are plotted in blue and weeks in which you have lost money are plotted in red.

Custom Graph Tab

Overview

The custom graph tab gives you access to a number of very powerful and flexible graphing options. You can plot up to three different graphs at once, showing any of a wide variety of statistics for each graph. You might for example want to plot your Profit and your Saw Flop percentage against each other to see how your profit varies with how often you see the flop.

You can also use this graph in its simplest form, to plot your profits over all the hands you ever played. PokerOffice will automatically adjust the graph's scale so that all your information will fit into the graph.

You can filter this data by using the Advanced Filter options. As always, you can also use the Date Filter to display information for a particular date range.

Finally, you can choose to replay the hands from any section of the graph. Just use your mouse to select the hands that you want to replay (you might want to review your play during an upswing or downswing, for example) and you can launch the graphical Replayer.

Plotting graphs

Begin plotting your custom graphs by choosing the Statistics that you want to Graph. You can plot up to three graphs at once. Begin by opening the drop-down menu for Graph 1. There, you will see a number of statistics displayed, beginning with Profit ($) and continuing through Won %.

As an example, choose the Profit ($) statistic for Graph 1. Click on the Update button and you will see a blue line indicating your profit, in dollars, over all of your hands; the right side of the screen will now also show a Y-axis with blue numbers for this graph. To see the exact numbers that correspond to a particular point on the graph, look at the bottom left corner of the screen. There you'll see an indication of the Hand # and of the total Profit through that hand.

You can add Graphs 2 and 3 by choosing statistics from the Graph 2 and Graph 3 drop down menus. Open the Graph 2 drop down menu, for example, and choose Profit BB. Now you'll see a second graph, this time represented by a green line and green numbers on the Y-axis.

Group by (change the graph's scale)

You can use the "Group by" drop list box to select how many hands you want each point in the graph to represent. By selecting this option, you can fit any number of hands on to one graph.

The graph can show about 1000 points and the "Group by" menu shows how many hands are summarized at each point. If you're displaying 25,000 hands, for example, the Group by menu will show 25, meaning each point on the graph represents 25 hands.

You can choose to "flatten" the graph by choosing a higher number from the group by box. Unless you've used the Date Filter or the Advanced Filter, PokerOffice will always include all of the hands in your database; so, the smallest "Group by" number you can choose is the one that will just fit all of your data into the graph.

Launch Replayer

One of the handiest features of the Custom Graph tab is the ability to review your play over a particular range of hands. If you have an unusual upswing or down swing over a range of hands, for example, you might want to review your play during those hands.

To launch the Replayer, first select a portion of the graph to replay. Do so by holding down the left mouse button while moving the mouse to select an area in the graph. When you release the button a menu will pop up giving you the option to replay the hands in the selected area. Read more about the Replayer here.

MA (Moving Average)

If you've graphed any of the statistics other than the two Profit statistics, you might notice that your graph tends to flatten out on the right-hand side.

What's happening is that your statistic is converging to its "true" value. Over a small number of hands (100, for example), some of your statistics like $Vol.PutInPot (percentage of hands where you voluntarily put money into the pot) can vary quite a lot (you can hit a particularly good or bad run of cards, meaning you're playing more or fewer hands than normal). You can see this tendency on the far left hand side of the graph, which represents relatively few hands.

As you play more hands, however, small runs of good and bad luck tend to even out. So, after 50 000 hands, for example, you'll see a lot less variation in your $Vol.PutInPot statistic and the graph will appear flat: a small run of good luck won't change your average by very much.

But, suppose you want to see whether your $Vol.PutInPot has had any strange spikes up or down, or whether you have changed your play over time. How do you do that?

The solution in PokerOffice is to use the "Moving Average" option (the "MA" drop down menu next to each graph). In short, this option causes the graph to calculate data in small chunks, rather than over the entire range of hands. Every point in the graph will now show the mean value of the last X hands, where X is the value you decide for the MA. The smaller your MA, the spikier your graph will look, because short term swings will have a relatively large effect.

Try graphing your $Vol.PutInPot and set the MA to a number in the neighborhood of 1/10 of your total hands. You should now see a graph that shows noticeable changes, but without the dramatic spikes that a very low MA will show; now the graph might show differences in your playing style, rather than just showing the effects of a short-term swing of good or bad luck.

If you want to explore a section of the graph in more detail you might try launching the Replayer (see above). Or, you can use the Date Filter to limit the graph to a particular range of hands.

Player Top List

The lower table is called Player Top List and contains a summary of statistics for you and your opponents, with each row representing a single opponent.

The tab is constructed as a top list: the player in your PokerOffice database who has the highest profit per hand is shown at the top and the other players at that level are shown in descending order according to their profit per hand. This can be used to find out who the worst players are so you can search for them at your poker room.

You can sort this list by any of the other criteria by clicking on the tabs at the top of each column; clicking on the same tab again will switch the sort order from descending to ascending.

You can also select the minimum number of hands a player needs in order to be represented on this list. To do so, click on the Settings menu at the top of your PokerOffice window; select Preferences -> Advanced -> Player Top List and then select a number from the drop-down menu.

If you right-click on a player a menu will pop up giving you the option to change the selected player to this player. In other words, it will change the PokerOffice main program to display all statistics for this player.

Statistics used in the Player Top List table:
  • Player - Player name
  • Hands - Number of hands played at this level
  • WonHands% - Percentage of hands which the player won
  • SawFlop% - Percentage of hands where the player saw the Flop

  • FirstInRaise% - PREFLOP statistic showing percentage of hands where the player raised preflop as the first person to act, out of all hands

Hand Analysis Tab

The Hand Analysis Tab is for analyzing your Flop play and your final hands. Here you will get a good overview on how your actions for different Flop hands and final hands affect your winnings.

There are two tables on this tab. The top table shows your flop actions; the bottom table provides a summary of your final hands.

Flop Hand Analysis

The upper table is called Flop Hand Analysis. Here your play is summarized by type of hand on the Flop and each row represents a single Flop type. The table displays information about how you have played different type of hands on the flop.

The table is divided into two parts, one purple and one yellow. The purple part shows your actions where you were the first person to act on the Flop. The yellow part shows your actions where someone acted before you and made a bet on the Flop; your actions after that bet are described here. Use this information to discover which type of hands you play on the flop in order to optimize your strategy and find leaks in your play.

Flop Hand Statistics

  • Both purple and yellow parts
    • HandType - The type of Flop hand
    • Times - Number of times you have had this particular hand on the Flop
    • $Won - Amount which you have won or lost for the specific situation in the column to the left; winnings are displayed in green and losses in red.
  • Purple part - You're the first to act
    • CheckFold % - Percentage of hands where you were the first person to act and checked, someone made a bet and you folded to it.
    • CheckCall % - Percentage of hands where you were the first person to act and checked, someone made a bet and you called it.
    • CheckRaise % - Percentage of hands where you were the first person to act and checked, someone made a bet and you raised it.
    • Bet % - Percentage of hands where you were the first person to act and you made a bet.
  • Yellow part - Someone already bet before you acted
    • Fold - Percentage of hands when someone acted before you on the Flop and made a bet which you folded to
    • Call - Percentage of hands when someone acted before you on the Flop and made a bet which you called
    • Raise - Percentage of hands when someone acted before you on the Flop and made a bet which you raised

Final Hands

The bottom table is called Final Hands. Here all your final hands are summarized and each row represents a single final hand type.

The table shows the hand that you had when you either won the hand, went to showdown, or folded; if you folded your hand, the table will reflect the strength of your hand at the time you folded.

General Options

Database Options

You can access PokerOffice's database functions by clicking on the icons in the upper left corner of the Main Program screen or by selecting a command from the Database menu

Backup Database

You can make backups of your PokerOffice databases by using the backup function to produce a compressed backup file. This file can then be copied to disk or CD or attached to e-mails etc. Backup files made on one computer can be restored on the same or any other computer as long as PokerOffice is installed. To restore a backed up file use the Restore Database function. We recommend making regular backups of your database.

Clear Database

This option will clear the currently open database and remove all of its contents.

WARNING: if you clear a database ALL DATA IN IT WILL BE LOST!!! This action CAN NOT BE UNDONE!!

Create New Database

This will create and open a new empty database. By default, PokerOffice will keep records of all of your sessions, from every site, in a single database. If you'd rather keep separate databases for different sites, different types of games (full ring or 6-max, for example), different date ranges, or for any other reason, you can use this function to create a new database.

Open Database

This function opens an already existing database. To use this function, select the Open Database option in the Database menu or press the Open Database button. When you do this a small window will pop up and you will see a drop-down menu from which you can select the database to open. If you want PokerOffice to open this database as the default database when it starts up you can check the box: Open this database at startup.

Restore Database

If you created a backup, you can restore it by using the Restore function. Note that you must be using the same database engine (MySQL or Java) that you were using when you backed up your database.

Change to MySQL

When you first install PokerOffice, a default Java database engine is used. PokerOffice also has support for MySQL, a very fast and well-liked database engine which is available for free under the GPL license. It is highly recommended that you change the database engine to MySQL - it will make PokerOffice a lot faster, specially for large databases. It’s fairly quick and easy to convert PokerOffice to the MySQL database, so you may want to do this as soon as you begin using PokerOffice. We strongly recommend that you use MySQL 4.1 instead of the latest release of MySQL (5.0).

Step-by-step instructions for converting your database to MySQL are available in the Appendix.

Import Poker Tracker Database

If you have a Poker Tracker database, you can import it into PokerOffice. Choose the Import option from the Database menu.

Note that you can only import hands from the Party Poker network; if you have the original hand history files, you can also import the hands directly into PokerOffice rather than importing your Poker Tracker database.

Network Settings

This option allows you to set up PokerOffice to use a remote MySQL server. Recommended for advanced MySQL users only.

Collecting Data

To be able to produce statistics and analysis of your own and your opponents' play, PokerOffice needs hand histories. A hand history is a transcript of a single poker hand including all players' actions and the final outcome. PokerOffice has three main ways of collecting data:

Import data using the live_tracker

If you have a live_tracker active on a table it will automatically import the hand information from that table. This is by far the easiest and most convenient way to import hand histories. Read more about the live_tracker here. You can also use auto detection mode to automatically attach live_trackers to all poker tables that you open.

Import from file

You can import a hand history from a text file into the PokerOffice database.

Step 1: Locate or Obtain Hand History

Some poker sites save hand histories directly to your hard drive (Party Poker, for example, saves hand histories for every hand you've played for a certain period of time). If you already have your hand history saved in a file, you can proceed directly to Step 2.

If you do not have the hand history, you will need to create a text file. This is usually done by exporting or requesting the hand history you want from within your poker client software. You will have to do this in different ways for different poker rooms. The most common way is that you request hand histories through the poker client which are then sent to you via e-mail or displayed to you in a web browser or text editor. To create a hand history for PokerOffice simply copy the text of the e-mail/web browser/text editor and then paste it into a text editor, e.g. Notepad. Save the file to your hard drive and remember where you saved it.

If you are saving your hands using Notepad you must make sure that you turn wrapping off. You do this by going to "Edit" menu option and making sure that the "Word Wrap" option DOES NOT have a check beside it. If it does, click on it to remove the check mark. If you save your hand histories using WordPad you can turn off wrapping by selecting Options from the View menu and clicking on the column labeled "No Wrap". Copy and paste your hand histories again and save the file. Try the import again.

Step 2: Import Hand History

Now that you have a hand history it is time to import it into PokerOffice. Use the option Import Hand History from the File menu or press the Import Hand History button. This will bring up a small window with three buttons; press the middle button called Load Hand History From File. A new window will pop up and you can either enter the path to the hand history file you just created or press the Browse button to browse your file system for it. If you select to browse for the file you can even select multiple files to import by holding the Ctrl key when left clicking on the files. When you have selected your file(s) press the Open button and you will be returned to the previous window. Now the path to your file should be filled in and you can press the Import Hand History button to complete the import.

When manually importing hand histories, some users have reported faster results when temporarily disabling their anti-virus programs. Obviously, you need to understand the risks of disabling your security programs before doing so, so please be sure to proceed with caution.

Import from POP3 e-mail server

You can also set up PokerOffice to retrieve your hand history e-mails from your POP3 server (should basically never be used). Before you can get this function to work you need to set up the correct settings for your e-mail account in the POP3 settings. From the Main Program, go to the Settings menu and choose Configure E-mail/Pop3. Then enter the appropriate settings in the configuration window.

Use the option Import Hand History from the File menu or press the Import Hand History button. This will bring up a small window with three buttons; press the bottom bottom to check your server for new hand histories.

Please note that Secure POP3 (POP3 over SSL) is not supported by PokerOffice. Please also note that this function will only retrieve e-mails that are still on the POP3 server, not the ones that you have already downloaded to your e-mail program (e.g. Outlook)

General Information

Tables and Graphs

Most of the information you will find in the main program is presented in the form of either a table or a graph. Certain features are common to most tables and graphs

Tables

  • Most of the information in PokerOffice is presented in the form of tables.

  • Generally, you can sort the information by left-clicking on the headers at the top of each column (for example, clicking on $Won in the first table under the Sessions tab will sort the games according to your profit for each session).

  • For many tables, right-clicking within the table will bring up additional options.

  • Often, you can select multiple rows by using the CTRL or SHIFT keys and the left mouse button. After you've selected multiple rows, you can often get additional information by right-clicking or by clicking on the icons above the table.

Graphs

  • Graphs can be found under the tabs for Sessions/Tournaments, Profit Graph, and Custom Graph.

  • For graphs showing profits and losses, green sections represent profits; red sections represent losses; blue sections represent no change

  • Right clicking on a section of a graph will often give you more specific information about that section of the graph

  • You can generally also zoom in on sections of the graphs and use the Replayer to replay hands from particular sections of the graphs.

Date Filter

You can always use the Date Filter to limit the information you see to a particular date range.

The Date Filter is located under the Overhead tabs. To use the Date Filter, simply check the "Use date filter" box, select the date range with the drop down menus, and click the Update button. All the information you see on the screen will then be filtered for the appropriate date range.

Select Player

Generally, you will use PokerOffice to view statistics on your own play. You therefore should make sure that your own player name is selected as the default player in PokerOffice; i.e. the player that will load on startup, etc. To do this, go to settings/preferences and make sure that your player name is listed as the "Default Ring Game Player" and "Default Tournament Playe". If your player is not listed as the default, simply change the default player by clicking the "Select other player" button.

You can also, however, select any other player in the PokerOffice database, and view all of the PokerOffice statistics on that player. To do so, click on the Select Player Icon at the top of the PokerOffice window: .

Note that if you play on several sites you will have one player for each site; to view the statistics for one of your players, simply select it from the player list and press "Update". To combine the statistics for all of your players, see Combine Players / Create Alias

Preferences

Access the Preferences Menu by opening the Settings menu and then selecting Preferences.

General Options

Default Ring / Tournament Player - choose your default player names here; you should generally choose your screen name for the site that you are using most frequently. If you check the "use system default," PokerOffice will make a guess as to who you are (based on number of hands played, numbers of starting hands known for the player, etc). Generally, the system default will correctly identify you; if not, simply uncheck the box and select the player that you wish to use as the default player instead.

Startup Options -

  • Startup Window: Choose whether you want PokerOffice to open a selection window at startup. Choose "none" to begin immediately in the Main Program
  • Startup Tab: Chose the tab that you want to see in the Main Program when PokerOffice begins
  • Load Ring Game / Tournament Statistics - choose whether to load your default players' statistics on startup. If you have a large database on your default player, you will be able to shorten the startup time for PokerOffice by unchecking one of these boxes.

General Options - use the checkboxes to determine whether PokerOffice should use multiple colors in graphs; use bold fonts in tables; and automatically check for updates.

Advanced Options

Player Toplist - choose the minimum number of hands a player must have to show up on the top list under the Performance tab. Read more here.

Live Tracking Routine - if you are using Windows 95 or 98, you may improve performance by checking this box and using the alternative tracking routine

Refresh Window on Live Window Closing - uncheck this box if you do not wish PokerOffice to prompt you to refresh your statistics when a Live Window closes, read more here: Closing live_tracker

Prompt for 6max at PokerStars - if you are having problems with your Overlay display on 6max windows at Poker Stars, try checking this box

Enable PartyPoker Chat- due to changes that Party Poker made in its chat box, PokerOffice can no longer display Pot Odds and Player Moves in real time if player chat is displayed. If you want to view Player Chat instead of Pot Odds and Player moves check this box. All data will still be correctly imported into PokerOffice whether or not this box is checked; only your live views will be affected.
